UIDAI permits people with Aadhaar cardsto change their address, without needing documentation. Aadhaar cardholders were permitted to change their address if they do not have evidence of their identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped an important feature that allows you to modify the address of your Aadhaar card's address, without documentary proof of address.

UIDAI permits those who have Aadhaar cards to change their address, without any form of documentation. Aadhaar card holders are able to update their address, if they agree to the authentication by the verifier of their address. An address verifier can be a friend, relative landlord, family member or even a friend who can allow the Aadhaar card holder to utilize their address for proof.

UIDAI has now halted this feature. UIDAI provided a response to an Card holder by tweeting that the ability to update the address on Aadhaar Card through the Address Validation Letter has been removed. UIDAI has asked its Aadhaar issuer to notify the user that they can update their address by using another legitimate PoA document.

Dear Residents Dear Resident: The Address Validation Letter service has been discontinued until the end of time. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
